I know the video is old (June… yeah real old) but Colbert makes a good point on how stupid the CBC really is when it comes to broadcasting. I’m not sure if the CBC actually knew what the Hockey theme actually stood for, and in my opinion might as well be the national anthem for Canada. Think about it.

Part of my is sadden  by how Colbert mocks the song, but another side is glad that he does just to rub it in the faces of CBC. Ahh, I love Canadian television.

CBC - Tax $$$ hard at work…

Currently CBC is holding a contest for the next anthem, really a contest?!? Now I’m not trying to discredit anyone who has submitted an entry but in no way will any of the songs reach the hearts of hockey fans across Canada. That song stood for 40 years with the CBC and everytime it was heard it got people excited, it got people ready for hockey and during the playoffs that song would send shivers down my back.

Now I can watch my hockey on whatever channel I want, TSN, Sportsnet, NBC (Yeah right, Americans and hockey, anyone remember Fox and the glowing puck…) My point; Announcers have changed on rival networks, some of which used to work for CBC and I can honestly say that now I have various outlets for the 08-09 hockey season, Sportsnet is playing 40+ games for each regions team, West, Pacific, Ontario, how can the CBC compete with that. Sure Don Cherry creates controversy but we all know how he has been muzzled by the CBC. First Don Cherry and now the anthem, 40 years of work down the drain.

My hat off to you CBC.

What next?
